USPC Core Value - Safety
Horseback riding is inherently risky. Even the calmest horse can behave unpredictably given the right circumstances. The Pierport Pony Club is committed to the safety of its participants. We require ASTM/SEI certified helmets be worn at all times when mounted.
Other key safety considerations are:
Choice of horse/pony - Ensure that your mount is appropriate for your size and experience level.
Tack - The equipment you use should fit yourself and your mount properly. It should be inspected before each ride and found to be in good repair.
Clothing - All participants must wear sturdy soled boots/shoes with a heel when around horses. The clothing worn should be suitable for riding.
Please review the official Pony Club Safety Booklet for complete safety information.
